The cohort definition and the snapshot date that fixes the constituent list.
Australia's 100 largest privately-held companies by revenue, as published annually by the Australian Financial Review. Captures the substantial cohort of Australian businesses that operate outside the listed market — including family-owned conglomerates, partnerships, and major private operators.
Constituent list as published in the most recent AFR Top 100 Private Companies edition prior to the snapshot date. Each constituent assessed via the standard myAIstrategy scan pipeline with no manual intervention or override. Findings reported in aggregate only — individual company scores are never published.
We'll email you the moment the AFR Top 100 Private cohort report is ready, usually a few weeks after the snapshot date.
How each cohort organisation was assessed.
Each organisation in the cohort is assessed through the same automated scan pipeline used in the consumer-facing myAIstrategy platform: public-data research, industry classification, and an 8-dimension AI Disruption Score calibrated against benchmark organisations. No manual override, no commercial relationship, no individual scores published.
The 8 dimensions cover four exposure dimensions (workforce replaceability, AI-native displacement, digital/physical mix, market velocity) and four defensibility dimensions (proprietary data advantage, switching cost lock-in, regulatory moat and brand/trust stakes). Each is scored 1–10 with weighting; the composite is 0–100.
